| | | Creator: | O'Neil, Michael Family | | | Dates: | 1850-1999 | | | Abstract: | Michael O'Neil was born in Ireland and immigrated to the United States, settling first in New York City. He eventually opened a mercantile store in Akron, Ohio, which became known as the M. O'Neil Company. In 1915 he and his son William set up the General Tire and Rubber Company of Akron. O'Neil was active in cultural, civic, and philanthropic organizations in Akron. He married Patience Maher of Cleveland, Ohio, in 1884, and had six children.
